Optical Filters in Aerospace

The harsh environment of space has a significant impact on optical coatings. Porous coatings, vacuum environment can cause spectral shifts and stress changes. Atomic oxygen is present in low-earth orbit, which leads to the alteration of the coating. The harsh radiation environment can lead to absorption losses in optical devices. Therefore, higher requirements are put forward for the compactness of the optical thin film layer structure for space applications.
